Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and have fun, develop new skills, or gain experience – perhaps for employment or to support a university application. Volunteering brings satisfaction of spending time to achieve something that will make a difference to people in Shropshire.
If you are interested in volunteering and feel you have particular skills and interests to bring to our organisation, please take a look at the volunteering opportunities on this page.
Current volunteering opportunities
Care and Share Volunteer Helpers - Church Stretton, Market Drayton and Albrightonmore
Our Care and Share groups take place twice a month for people with dementia and the family members who cares for them. They offer a stimulating and varied programme of activities including reminiscence, quizzes, crafts, guest speakers and local outings. They also give family carers a much-needed opportunity for respite while their loved one is participating in the group.
We currently have three Care and Share groups and are looking for volunteers to help us run them. If you are looking for a volunteering role supporting people in your local community with mild to moderate memory loss then please call 01743 360641.

- To promote the Fuel Buying Scheme amongst their community using leaflets and posters provided and local contacts e.g. village noticeboard/ newsletter.
- To collect oil orders via email and telephone from their group members and pass these on to Shropshire RCC on the agreed monthly deadline.
- To communicate price and supplier details to their group once the deal has been made, especially to those who don’t have email.
Coordinators do not have to handle money for memberships or oil purchases. Coordinators benefit from free membership to the scheme which is usually £24 per year for domestic users.
