Pelvic Floor Empowerment workshop for ASET members
Published: 8th Aug, 2017
Renowned presenter, Cherry Baker came to Shropshire RCC on 6th August to deliver her famous Pelvic Floor workshop to members of the Association of Shropshire Exercise Teachers (ASET) and others. The workshop was hosted by Shropshire RCC in partnership with FitPro and was a huge success.
Sixteen people, from all over Shropshire and beyond, chose to spend their Sunday afternoon learning about how to teach effective and safe exercises to maintain pelvic floor health. It is an important issue that affects one in three women and one in ten men but most people are ignorant of how to maintain and improve their pelvic floor. Cherry sprinkled her very professional workshop with hilarious anecdotes from her experience teaching Pelvic Floor exercises to her fitness classes. As well as information about the anatomy of the pelvic floor and advice about appropriate and inappropriate terminology, there were practical demonstrations of effective isolation and compound exercises.
For many attendees, this half-day workshop has whetted their appetite and they are keen to do the Diamond Pilates Level 1. One attendee said “This has been great! This is the best training I’ve attended in years!” Membership of the Association of Shropshire Exercise Teachers is open to any exercise instructors who work with frail or sedentary people and those with limited mobility in the county of Shropshire. The Association is co-ordinated by Shropshire RCC, supported by funding from Shropshire Council.
