Shropshire RCC is delighted to have received a grant from the Telford & Wrekin Mayoral Fund for our Hearing Loss Support Service.
Two of the service’s hard-working volunteers – Thelma Hall and Sally Joyner – were presented with the cheque from Telford & Wrekin Mayor Councillor Raj Mehta at a ceremony held at Addenbrooke House, Telford, on Friday 15 March.
The Mayoral Grant Fund supports a wide range of charitable activities with a focus on social needs, disadvantage and deprivation.
This year’s theme, 'Building Bridges', was chosen by the Mayor and has helped groups working to support the multi-faith community and broaden diversity.
Prior to the event, Councillor Raj Mehta said: “This event is going to be wonderful as I’ll be meeting the individuals in our community who are striving for the same things as me – bridging gaps, supporting each other and working together to build an even better future.
“There are so many people doing great things day in, day out and this will be an opportunity to say ‘thank you’, put them in the spotlight and highlight the great work they are doing for all sorts of people.”
Shropshire RCC’s Hearing Loss Support Service provides information, advice and practical support to NHS hearing aid users in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.
