National Carers Week runs from 6th - 14th June and spotlights the vital role of the 6 million carers in the UK who support loved ones who because of age, frailty, disability or illness cannot manage without that help. We know that many people who are caring do not seek help because they don’t see themselves as carers; just family doing what loving families do. The reality is that caring can mean giving up work, not having time to see friends, neglecting health because of being focused on a loved one and their needs.
We want to give some of Shropshire's carer a break from the day to day pressures of caring with an afternoon of fun that they can enjoy with family and friends, so on Saturday June 6th Shropshire RCC Carers Support Service is celebrating the start of Carers Week with ‘strictly afternoon tea’. Carers will be treated to a scrumptious tea and enjoy dancing (optional), dance demonstrations and stalls.
During Carers Week we will have information and a collection at Sainsbury’s store in Meole Brace, Shrewsbury and thank the company for their active involvement in raising awareness of Carers and their needs.
Our I Care Card can give carers discounts at outlets across Shropshire and businesses supporting the scheme are helping to make local communities more carer friendly.
We are here for anyone who is caring for another person and can offer a listening ear, information and advice, individual support, outings, groups and special events for carers. If you or someone you know is caring for a family member, friend or neighbour please get in touch by calling us on 01743 341995
