Our Wise & Well Team supports people to stay fit, well and connected in the community.We do this through a range of talks and events about health issues, including managing long term conditions such as diabetes, healthy eating and physical activity.
Our Functional Fitness MOT is a programme to help to reduce the risk of falling and support older people become or stay physically active.
Activities include one-to-one fitness tests measuring strength, balance, flexibility and stamina. There is also information on how to reduce the risk of falling - with a demonstration of how to get up from the floor after a fall – plus a free taster exercise class at most events.
So far it has supported around 350 older people across Shropshire.
Our online programme to support older people to develop their mental and physical health was launched in August 2020 in response to the Covid-19 crisis and our inability to host face-to-face community events.
The Wise and Well Club is free and open to people in Shropshire aged 65 to 95. The fortnightly newsletter includes information and advice on fitness and wellbeing, plus activities for members to try out in the comfort of their own homes.
