The Shropshire Community Fund (SCF) was set up in 1989 to raise money for local charities in Shropshire. The SCF now receives income from a variety of sources, including payroll deductions from individuals (Give As You Earn), support from Borough and District Councils, a grant from the Health Authority and donations made under the Gift Aid Scheme.
SCF is administered by the Community Council of Shropshire. Decisions are made by a Committee with voluntary and statutory sector representatives and meetings are held quarterly.
Applications should meet these conditions:
Funding may help with:
Exclusions:
Grants are limited to a maximum of £750 and this figure will only be exceeded in exceptional circumstances. Grants are not necessarily dependent on matching funding, although this will be welcome.
Generally, applications will be considered at the quarterly meetings, but requests for small amounts (under £75) can be processed more quickly to meet urgent needs.
Applications for grants often exceed the Community Fund's limited resources. Therefore, not all applications which meet the criteria will be successful. Equally, SCF cannot guarantee to meet future funding needs of groups it has previously supported.
Millichope Foundation Support to Village Halls and Community Buildings
The Millichope Foundation has given an annual grant of £5000 for the next 5 years for grants to Village Halls and Community Buildings. This will be available from April 2008 and Village Halls and Community Buildings from within Shropshire will be able to apply for grants up tp £350.00 towards the purchase of small items of equipment. Applicants are expected to contribute an equal amount of match funding. This fund is in addition to the Shropshire Community Fund therefore it is possible to apply for both funds but applicants must clearly identify that they meet the criteria for each fund.
