SUPPORT WORKERS FOR OLDER CARERS AND CARERS OF PEOPLE WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES

The Community Council of Shropshire Carers’ Service employs three support workers to cover the North/South of the county and the Shrewsbury area.

Their role is to support carers of older people and people with physical disabilities. They can support you by:-

• Listening to your concerns
• Helping you to take a break from caring
• Keeping you up to date with information and services that are available
• Introducing you to Carers’ Groups throughout the county
• Helping you to access a Carers’ Assessment
• Empowering you in your caring role
• Supporting you to find appropriate training to assist you in your caring role or leisure

They can provide practical and emotional support and will identify other support agencies that may be able to help you and can liaise with other agencies on your behalf.

The team are actively seeking hidden carers and promoting carer’s services, on a regular basis, and are involved in local Carers’ strategy groups throughout the county.
